Breakthroughs to Agriculture-End of Chapter 1
I think that it's pretty interesting how even though the "Agricultural Revolution" took place over centuries, it would affect the way humans live to this day. This also created a "mutual dependence" between domesticated animals and humans. One question I do have about the "Agricultural Revolution" was how did humans know that they needed to integrate agriculture into their lives? The first area to be fully affected by the "Agricultural Revolution" was the Fertile Crescent, which is present-day South West Asia. Of all the 14 domesticated animal species, the only two located in the Western Hemisphere was the Llama and the Alpaca; The other 12 were located across the sea. Agriculture was able to coexist with gathering and hunting by diffusion and migration. The Bantu people chose to absorb, kill, or drive away the indigenous people living on the land they migrated to. One way they were able to do this was by exposing them to animal-borne illnesses. The "Agricultural Revolution" also led to a boost in the population. During this period, villages began to become more organized and chiefs began appearing. These chiefs used their generosity to win their subjects over. I didn't know that many people look to this time period to reflect upon where we have grown together as a society. Many see this as a great thing while others look upon it negatively.
